"Social Media" Race Weekend Recap #CUCB2017

It feels strange not to be writing a race recap for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, so I decided to write a "Race Weekend" recap from my perspective as social media coordinator.

It may look long, but I promise it's mostly pictures! It was one very busy - but fun - weekend, as I posted away on Facebook & Twitter on behalf of #CUCB2017.

A Special Lucky Leprechaun 5K

Although I hadn't planned on running any races until I had rebuilt some of my lost endurance and speed, the Lucky Leprechaun 5K presented me with an opportunity I couldn't refuse.

I had the opportunity to run with a friend and experience her first 5K through her eyes.

Fairfax Four Miler Recap (2016)

I closed out my strange year of relatively little running & learning to manage hallux rigidus with one of my favorite races, the Fairfax Four Miler.

I love the party atmosphere of this New Year's Eve race, and sharing it with festive friends makes it even better.

We gathered a group of Reston Runners BFFs and named our team "Sass and Sparkle" - Shawn, Mechelle, Molly, Norma, Laura and me. We were missing Laurie, who was home with a cold.

Mother's Day 4-Miler Recap

Slow and steady runs the race.

I didn't even realize I had a mantra for this race until it popped into my head during the first mile. You aren't trying to "win" a PR, you are just trying to run.

My Cherry Blossom race plans went from 10 miles to 5k (details here), to a supporting role as a spectating coach. What happened and how was it?

Shaky Shakeout Saturday

The Reston Potomac River Running Cherry Blossom Training had an optional shakeout run the morning before the race. We had about a dozen folks show up and spirits were high.

But our high spirits were brought down a few notches when the race officials announced some significant changes to the race plans due to incoming high winds. Basically the race was transformed into a "retro" 1970s style race - no signs, no mile markers, no giant digital clocks, no tents.
