from Survive to Thrive: Week 16

Welcome to from Survive to Thrive: Week 16.

I had such a great staycation week filled with  personal growth, fitness, decluttering, and fun.

Let's review my week...

Personal Growth

This week I focused in part on reading and learning. I read two books on bullet journaling, listened to Gretchen Rubin's Happiness Project audiobook, took an online photography course, and listened to a lot of book summaries on Blinkist. It was really satisfying to prioritize this type of activity. It's often one of the first to go when I feel overwhelmed and too busy.

Fitness

I was spoiled this week with new fitness goodies from Garmin, ASICS, and the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run (one of the perks from being on the race's social media committee). I especially enjoyed playing with my new Garmin Forerunner 245 Music and trying out some ASICS gear. The Highwaist Tights (model 154563) have a huge mesh pocket across the back that is big enough for my phone(!) and the socks had just the right softness and thickness for me. Thank you!

I am three miles away from finishing up my 44 miles in February challenge! It's been so motivating to fill in those circles as I covered the miles. I should hit 44 on Tuesday.

I started physical therapy for my shoulder this week. I've had chronic shoulder pain for 4 years now, and one of my 20 for 2020 goals was going to a specialist to see what was wrong with it. I was diagnosed with internal impingement, which should be easily addressed through PT. In addition to doing the exercises, I've reworked my home office to be more ergonomic (my mouse was too high).

Fun

Freddy and I watched LEGO Masters this week. It started February 5, so we had three episodes to watch. It's really cool to see the creativity and skill of the contestants. I also made time to build with LEGO this week, of course.

Rick and I went out to lunch at Seasons 52 on Tuesday (thank you to Steve and Becky for the gift certificates!). They had so many healthy options, it was hard to choose. I ended up getting a beet and goat cheese salad with caramelized sea scallops on the side.

We also got "mini indulgence" desserts to bring home - peanut butter torte for Rick, raspberry chocolate chip cannoli for me, and a belgian chocolate s'more for Freddy.

Looking Ahead

It's always a little depressing when staycation week comes to an end. I go back to work tomorrow. I have ahead of me two all-day out-of-office meetings, a staff retreat on Friday morning, a virtual meeting Friday afternoon, 300+ emails that accumulated this week, and a handful of conference calls...sigh. Back to the real world.

My goals for the week are:
  1. Track everything I eat in MyFitnessPal every day this week
  2. Get up without hitting snooze every day
  3. Run/walk two times
  4. Do yoga at least two days
  5. Do shoulder strengthening exercises 2-3 times

See you next week!

average steps: 9,759
average sleep: 8h 48m
average stress: 24
run/walk: 11.2 miles
yoga: 1 sessions
weight: 116.7
body fat 29.6%

Accountability: Goal Check

Goal: Track everything I eat in MyFitnessPal every day this week...EVERYTHING
Status: Achieved!

Goal: Do my morning routine every day
Status: Achieved!

Goal: Run/walk three times
Status: Achieved!

Goal: Do yoga at least four days
Status: Not even close - I ended up doing yoga only once this week

Goal: Do Uncluttered activities
Status: Achieved! I got lots of decluttering done this week on my staycation. I feel like I'm doing more organizing than decluttering sometimes, but I can see a real difference in the areas that I've decluttered. I just have to keep the momentum going!
