Contents:
- Raw Rev Glo Bar with Raw Superfoods (Crunchy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt): This bar is vegan, gluten-free and the ingredients are all raw. It has 11 grams of protein which come from peas, brown rice and hemp.
- Verdict: this had a nice peanut taste and a reasonable texture. The outside of the bar was a little slick with peanut oil - eat it in the wrapper or have a wipe handy. A version of this with chocolate chips would be awesome.
- Nature Nate's All Natural Honey: This is a small packet of raw & unfiltered honey that is designed to be consumed on the go to fuel your workout.
- Verdict: my son loves honey and he called dibs when he saw this. Since honey wouldn't typically be one of my go-to fuel sources, I gave it to him. He said it was good.
- Glukos Energy Drink Powder (Lemon): This is a powdered form of the Glukos energy drink. Add it to 12 ounces of water, shake it, and you have a glucose-filled hydration drink.
- Verdict: If you like Glukos energy gel (which is really a liquid), you'll like this. It tastes the same. It was a lot of powder and not easy to get into a narrow-necked bottle, but it mixed easily and had that nice sweet-tart Glukos taste.
- Protes Protein Snacks (Zesty Nacho): A packet of vegan, gluten-free crisps with 15 grams of protein per serving.
- Verdict: These were a bit more "zesty" than I would have preferred (onion, garlic, unnamed spices), but they were tasty and seemed like a "regular" pita-style chip rather than a high-protein one. They would be a good way to get 15 grams of protein in a snack.
- Prince of Peace Ginger Honey Tea Crystals and Candy: The tea crystals have honey, lemon, and ginger in them and turn into tea when added to 6 ounces of water. The ginger candy is like a ginger gummy bear. Ginger is said to ease nausea and support your digestive system.
- Verdict: The tea crystals dissolved immediately in hot water, no stirring needed. It had a robust ginger flavor, balanced by a bit of honey sweetness (I didn't really taste the lemon). I would buy this again. And the ginger gummies are yummy.
- Lightload Towels (2): A metal container about the size of a silver dollar contains a towel that expands into a 12x12 inch square when it gets wet. Easy to carry with you in case you need a hand towel for something like first aid or cooling.
- Verdict: I'll throw one of these into my hydration pack & one into my water belt, just in case. I'll add more information after I've had a reason to try one.
- StrideBox Double Pocket Running Belt: Score! This narrow belt clips around your waist and has two zippered pockets that really do expand a surprising amount. I put my phone in there, some gels, and my keys, and it seemed like there was still more room.
- Verdict: the zippers are a little finicky. One only unzips halfway, and the other was pulled apart when I opened the package. Right now they both seem functional and secure, and I will update this after I've tested them on a run to be sure they hold.
- Bonus items: a recipe for clean eat energy bars, a 20-minute leg workout for runners, and - of course - the monthly sticker. Each month there is a clever and colorful sticker in my StrideBox. I put them on the outside of my running fuel "tackle box" for decoration and motivation. They make me smile.
